Reach Truck
A reach truck is used to stock up supplies, pallets of goods, and to keep storage places orderly. The reach truck is available in several kinds: the stand-up reach, double-deep reach and straddle reach.
The most basic kind is the stand-up. The truck forks slide beneath the pallet and move it to the correct storage place. The forks slide the pallet into position. This kind of reach truck is suitable when shelving units are only one pallet deep.
Best for workplaces where the shelving units are deep enough to have two pallets of goods, the double-deep reach truck, that is like the stand-up, is commonly utilized. This particular version consists of telescopic forks intended to position the pallet at the back of the shelving unit. This saves having to push the pallet back when one more pallet has to go into the same shelving section.
Straddle reaches have the added advantage of being able to not only slide beneath the pallet, but also to grasp the sides. These are recommended for workplaces where shelving units can be accessed in multiple directions. This version is ideal in situations where goods will not be damaged if the pallet sides are grabbed.
In nearly all warehouses, there are usually more than one type of reach truck. Textile companies and manufacturing facilities use different kinds of reach trucks in their supply areas. The reach truck is not hard to utilize and could make the most of available storage space while increasing production.
