Bud Bushnell established Genie Industries in 1966, after he purchased the manufacturing rights to a material lift that functioned on compressed air. The name Genie originated from the "magic in the bottle" that was used to lower and raise the hoist. This mechanism really impressed a lot of clients and thus, the name was established.
Genie expanded operations and established itself into various new markets, since the demand for work lifts and platforms grew. Over time, when the demand for new machines to meet numerous applications grew, the company made itself recognized in many new markets. Like for example, Genie went into making stick booms, telehandlers, articulated booms, light towers and man-lifts.
Due to the economic downturn during the beginning of the 2000s, Genie decided to obtain a partner who had the same values. They partnered up along with Terex Corporation. This company has a history obtaining machine manufacturers all around the world who proved to be a good business match. Genie Industries was sold in 2002 and became a part of Terex Corporation.
During the early years after the sale, it was determined to maintain the Genie brand name within the Terex Aerial Work Platforms or AWP segment of Terex, due to the name's solid reputation within the marketplace. Therefore, all Genie machinery continue to be marketed under the Genie brand name.
Genie takes pride in listening to their customers. The company is devoted to continually improving efficiency and quality and is also dedicated to lessening waste. Even long after the sale has been closed, the company concentrates on providing exceptional support. These are the very work practices that have made Genie a trusted brand name over the past decades and continue to keep their reputation for quality and top-of-the-line equipment.
Genie's Bi-Energy and DC equipment are emission-free, quiet machines capable of working in delicate work settings. Where the machine should be driven significant distances, like within industrial situations, the Genie bi-energy system combines the power of a diesel-powered generator together with the benefits of a 48V DC equipment.
Telescopic booms provide more horizontal reach, as opposed to any of the different aerial platforms. These equipment are great for small areas or limited access areas in all kinds of environments. The Genie Telescopic S booms have been engineered to provide utmost productivity. These machines deliver supreme traction and the drive speed you need to be able to travel around the work site and job area.
