Telescoping Boom Lifts
Telescopic booms are big industrial machines designed with a straight boom arm which is extendable. The boom is usually located on a rotating turntable. The telescoping boom lifts are typically used for jobs that need tasks to be performed at heights that exceed other kinds of lifts. Like for example, workers can perform exterior renovations or repairs on buildings of medium height but utilizing these lifts rather than having the additional work of setting up a pulley system or an outside elevator.
The boom lift bucket generally just holds one worker. These buckets are better suited to specific tasks like for instance electrical repair, rather than window washing or general maintenance. These lifts are available in gas or electric configurations and are offered with both indoor and outdoor tires.
Scissor Lifts
Below the scissor lifts work platform are the cross braces in which the equipment gets its name. When the braces move together it pushes the platform straight up. Because these kinds of machinery must be directly positioned under the work site, these units are way more limited in their use compared to boom lifts.
The scissor lift usually has a bigger platform that allows the operator to control the lift to access a bigger work area once the lift platform is raised off the ground. With scissor lifts, all-terrain capability is less of an issue with these models, as they should sit on flat ground in order to be used. Scissor lifts are great for being utilized for window installation or cladding, because they provide the personnel with the desired mobility; they are also a good alternative for window cleaning applications or exterior repairs.
Boom Trucks vs. Cranes
Boom trucks, bucket trucks and cherry pickers each refer to the class a type of utility vehicle used specifically for vertical work. Generally, these types of trucks have a cab. It is here where the driver sits and operates the machine. There is a bucket for where the worker can stand in addition to an actuator arm for lifting the boom and a winch for lifting.
Cherry pickers can raise workers up to heights which were previously inaccessible. The cranes function is to lift both heavy materials and equipment for one place to another. There are a variety of different crane types that can perform a variety of purposes. Both of these different types of equipment excel at different jobs and are great for particular applications and accomplishing certain tasks.
