Forklift Tire Specs
Since the year 1917, important tools used in commercial businesses and industry are forklifts. During its history the forklift has evolved through various kinds, from a simple tractor with an attached platform to a particular high-tech equipment. Forklift tires have also changed into particular tires, with different types designed to meet particular applications.
Cushion (Solid) Tires
A cushion tire is made of rubber or solid polyurethane and is suitable for indoor work on smooth surfaces. The cushion tire tread is pressed or binded onto the tire's steel ring. Cushion tires are rated for different load capacities and for ease of steering. Cushion tires are usually used within warehouse atmosphere.
Pneumatic Tires
Pneumatic forklift tires are filled with foam or air. They are offered in two types: bias or radial. Depending on the application, they come with different tread depths, weight and sidewall protection. Foam-filled pneumatic forklift tires maintain constant pressures and are less susceptible to punctures. Pneumatic tires are normally used outdoors on uneven, rough surfaces.
Pneumatic Shaped Solid/Solid Pneumatic
Solid Pneumatic Hybrid tires combine the puncture resistance of a solid tire with the comfortable ride of a pneumatic tire. They are an alternative to the outdoor pneumatic tire.
Large Rubber and Flotation Tires
Used on wheel loader forklifts are big rubber tires that could either be foam, solid or pneumatic. These kinds of tires are best for moving and loading heavy items into processing machines or onto trucks. Large flotation pneumatic tires are best for masted rough terrain forklifts normally utilized at construction sites, auto recyclers and lumberyards.
