How to Charge a Scissor Lift
A lot of people value the convenience of utilizing a scissor lift. The ease of working and the safety offered from the lift's basket offer much more piece of mind than attempting to complete a similar job using the step of a ladder. The safety risks involved with this particular machine make it the right alternative for performing tasks from heights.
Nearly all scissor lifts are powered electrically by batteries that have been mounted directly onto the machine. These batteries will have to be charged following a long shift or after sitting for extended periods without use. It is an easy job to charge the batteries. This can be done without any particular tools or equipment and needs no heavy labor.
In order to prepare the scissor lift for charging, position the machinery near an electrical outlet. Make sure you are doing this in a well-ventilated place. Then, in order to prevent another operator from driving away with the lift plugged in, press the emergency shut-off switch. The emergency shut off switch is the big red button found near the charger or the control box, inside the basket of the lift. Find the battery charger on the base of the lift on the right side. Normally, older models will have the charger mounted on the back of the lift.
After that, plug the charger into the AC extension cord. Be sure you are charging in a place which is well ventilated and next plug the extension cord into an electrical outlet. In order to prevent accidental damage from being run over, the length of the electrical cord on the battery charger is purposely short. This is because if any excess length were to drop out of the battery charger storage area while in use, extreme danger could potentially take place.
